Micro-Irrigation Technology Adoption in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon: A Behavioural Model

Potato crops are one of the main sources income for farmers living in Bekaa Valley Lebanon. Given high sensitivity potatoes to water stress, shortages can cause considerable losses terms potato yield and quality. To overcome this challenge, use water-saving technologies such as micro-irrigation systems very important. However, adoption technique remains quite low among region, who still ordinary sprinkler systems. In study, unified theory acceptance technology (UTAUT) serves conceptual framework investigating these farmers’ behaviour adopting a new system. achieve objective, we extended UTAUT model by considering risk perception technology. The moderators tested were age, previous experience, voluntariness use, gross unit margin educational level. Examining standard regression coefficients, i.e., β weights, results indicate that performance expectancy raised behavioural intention investment (β = 0.29) while effort weight value was 0.24.
